TECHNICAL GUIDE - VIDEO CODEC INFORMATION

1. CAN'T SEE THE MOVIE CLIP YOU DOWNLOADED?

Ok, so you've download a movie clip but it won't play, don't spit the dummy, read through the following and you'll be enjoying your reality skin download in no time!

The main problem when you can't view a movie clip is that you don't have the codec that the clip was created with. You'll need to find out what codec it was created with and then go and download it so you can watch the clip.

2. FIND OUT WHAT CODECS YOU NEED

The first step is to find out what codecs are used on the file you downloaded. Use a very simple application called GSpot. You simply drag & drop the clip into GSpot and it will tell you loads of information about the file including which codec(s) it needs to play and if you have them or not.

**** The most common problem is that you do not have the divx codec installed!

3. GET THE CODECS

Here is a list of the most widely used codecs and where to get them.

Do not install codec "packs" as they are bad for your system and in some cases contain spyware.
