How Does Fotona4D® Facelift Work?
The Fotona4D® system uses the innovative 4th generation Erbium: YAG laser technology and advanced computer-controlled platform of selective tissue tightening (STT). During this non-invasive treatment, a series of extremely fast pulses of energy are delivered into the skin. The pulses are delivered through the Fotona4D system’s hand-piece, which is able to create a small and precise spot on the skin as shown in this diagram:
After each pulse of laser energy, the Erbium: YAG stimulates collagen and elastic tissue growth under the skin. As this area naturally heals itself over time, it results in firmer, tighter and more rejuvenated skin. This process is also known as “selective thermal remodeling”, because we are using these very tiny spots of heat released by the laser to stimulate new cellular activity underneath your existing skin cells.

What is the Step-by-Step Treatment Process of Fotona4D® Facelift?
The first step involves the creation of a “map” of your face using laser technology (the same as when you get an MRI). Essentially, this map will determine how much energy needs to be delivered into each specific area of your face to achieve optimal results.
In addition, we’ll discuss exactly what kind of results you’re aiming for and what areas need more work than others, so that we can tailor the treatment around your expectations. The second step involves delivering tiny pulses of laser energy onto your face. It is very rare that you will feel any sensations from the laser—the pulses are so tiny and fast that they’re almost undetectable to your touch.
After a few treatment sessions, we’ll schedule an appointment for you to see the results of your treatment in person.
Your first session(s) will only last between 10-15 minutes, followed by a short break (about 5 minutes). In terms of downtime afterwards, there may be some redness or light swelling at the site of treatment—this should fade within 24 hours.
As this happens, your skin becomes progressively tighter and smoother to the touch. The amount of time it takes to accomplish each step depends on how many treatments you have done before and how your skin reacts to the treatment.
Some people may notice results from their first session, while others go through several sessions and don’t see them until after they have finished all their treatments.
